Home Extrusion

We have several research and pilot plant extruders available, both single as double screw. We even have an extruder equiped with cameras to see the flow of the polymer melt. Our extruders can also be used for test productions or specialty products such has polymer compounds (granulates) and monofilaments.

ZSK30 twin screw extruder

The Werner Pfleiderer, Type ZSK 30 is a co-rotating 30 mm twin screw extruder. The extruder is electrical heated (5 zones) and equipped with a K'tron 20 and K'tron 35 dosing unit. The throughput can be up to 10 kg/hour and is ideal for compounding a serie of different composition.
The ZSK30 is equipped with:

  • Dosing unit K'tron 20 with powder and pellet transport screw
  • Dosing unit K'tron 35 with powder and pellet transport screw
  • Dosing unit Engelhart for adding additives in the range of 1% m/m
  • Sidefeeder option (can be equipped with K’tron or Engelhart)
  • Liquid dosing unit. liquids can be dosed as well. We have the ability to heat the liquid reservoir.

Research extruder - Haake polylab line

The Haake Polylab line is a versatile, application-oriented extruder which is able to process polymers in practical applications and which can contribute to product development and process engineering. The system is very flexible and versatile. The extruder is equipped with a Fasti resin dryer with a capacity of approximately 3 KG and a melt pump. Almost all resins can be processed.

Various processing dies can be attached like a capillary for filament extrusion wich makes this line very suitable for the piloting of monofilaments for the 3D printing industry. We can produce samples on a bobbin with various diameters (including 1.75 and 2.85 mm).

This research extruder can also be used for other purposes such as film blowing or rheological measurements:

When a melt pump is used between the extruder and the capillary die, very accurate processing conditions can be achieved which make it possible to record rheograms in a wide shear rate range/

Additionally, using this configuration, melt strengths can be measured directly on the filament extrudate with our Rheotens.

The film-cast die (width 8 cm) is used in combination with rollers, which can be cooled or heated and a transport system to collect film sample. The blow-flim die (diameter  is used in combination with a cooling ring, rollers and a transport system as well.

When the kneader is used instead of the extruder, small-scale (approximately 70 g.) mixing experiments can be performed between two kneader rotors, while the torque is monitored.
