Senbis co-hosted webinar on microplastic legislation and bioplastic innovations

Senbis co-hosted a Chemport Connect webinar on microplastic legislation and bioplastic innovations, of which the recording is now available on youtube.

Our Managing Director Gerard Nijhoving explains the market impact of legislation and elaborates our choices for bioplastic developments (at 31:00)

Initial program

In the transition towards a manufacturing industry that uses more sustainable polymers and avoid the spread of microplastics, the EU is taking a leading role in setting up a policy route and legislative infrastructure. During this webinar, we will approach this transition from a value chain perspective.

Valentina Bertato, representative from the European Commission will talk about the most recent developments on policy and legislative action surrounding ‘intentionally added microplastics’. Gerard Nijhoving CEO at Senbis Polymer Innovations, a polymer R&D company from Emmen, will then talk about how they are working on developing biodegradable solutions in response to these industry challenges.

The end-users of these biopolymer solutions also play a vital role in the transition; therefore Colin Young & Michael Vogel represent the renowned Dutch artificial grass producer ‘’Ten Cate Grass’’ and give their vision on the market impact and opportunities in regard to these biodegradable alternatives.

Program:
• 16:00-16:10 – Introduction by Willemien Veele & Pieter Faber
• 16:10-16:30 – Valentina Bertato, European Commission
